Hey there! I have a question about taking the MCAT test. I heard that the MCAT is not of absolute necessity for an American student applying to Irish medical schools. Does anyone know the disadvantages of not taking the MCAT when applying to Irish Medical Schools? Would Irish schools prefer to see that a student has taken the MCAT? Basically I am asking if I would be looked upon as a weaker international candidate if I have not take the exam. Thanks a lot!!!

You need MCAT for UCC. You don't for Trinity or RCSI. UCD will look at it if you have it.

As far as I know, Trinity and RCSI won't even look at it if you submit your marks to them.

Then why on their website does it say for their program with a Bacc. degree is the MCAT required as well as transcripts?

MCAT is required if you plan on entering the 5 year program at RCSI. It's not required if you are applying for the 6 yr.
