managed care residency applications

new to the forum. i'm applying for residencies this cycle but have no idea how competitive they are.

hi everyone,

new to the forum. i'm applying for managed care residencies this cycle but have no idea how competitive they are. since most programs only take 1 or 2 students, i feel like i should apply to more programs that i'm interested in. most of my friends applying for practice residencies are sticking to around 5. i currently narrowed by search to 12 around the country. i've been speaking with some residents at the programs and trying to read up about them as much as i can. i'm going to make a final decision after mid-year.

any suggestions or ideas?

Residencies mainly follow supply and demand... there are fewer managed care residencies, but also fewer applicants to this type of residency.

Ranking more residencies is better than ranking fewer, but only if you would be happy committing to any of your choices.
