Low Step 2 score and want to do EM

Hey everyone. I Am a 4th year trying to do EM. I got a 212 on step 1 and 227 on step 2. I think I am doing pretty well on my home EM rotation right now and hoping for a good SLOE. Do you think I still have a shot at matching or should I be prepared not to match/switch specialities. Thanks!

You should be OK. Based on 2022 data, EM will likely again be one of the least-competitive specialties in 2023. You won't necessarily be a competitive applicant, but you should match.

Thank you. That is reassuring. I believe my application is otherwise okay. I have some good research and have done alot of volunteering and have a decent amount of leadership. It is just the scores. I have an away in NJ and one in NY after that. I was wondering if should do another 2 week one after interview season to get more face time with a certain program. I really love EM and really want to have a chance to do it.
