You are not wasting time if you are taking Nursing. It's better if you finish your Nursing before going to Med school. Your perception of Medicine and being a doctor might change once you are in med school. Look at the MANY specialists doctors going Nursing schools. This is a bad sign that you don't want to regret any decision. 22 is every young and you will work your whole life as a doctor. Some start as a med student in their 40's.hey there savana.. we're the same! sobra.. struggling nursing students.. who wana be a doctor so badly.. so what are your plans? im plannin to quit na nga eh so i could take the nmat on april 2007 and register for this test before march 9....i have a big decision to make! huhuhu.. the thing is ill be finishing my nursing degree next year pa.. some of my friends who are med students told me to finish it first then proceed to med.. what do you guys think? am i running out of time? im already 22 years old.. nursing is my second degree by the way, ive been thinking im wasting too much time.. i need help as well.. and i wanna take up med asap.. so i could start learning how to be a doctor right?.. i dont know anymore.. sigh.. how do i do this? i mean what's the most practical and sane thing to do?

Hi Juve! You're better off reviewing the sample questionaire that comes with the NMAT application form. I recall thinking how the actual NMAT exam was way easier than their sample questionaire. It also helps because it identifies subject areas that you need to focus on. Good luck on your NMAT! Dont sweat it...
Your pre-med course will not matter in med school. You'll have an advantage in basic science with Biology, but in most clinical years and practical matters Nursing has advantages. Plus you can work as a nurse if med school does not pan out unlike Biology where there is not much job choice in the Philippines.hey do you think nursing is a better pre med course than biology? some say that nursing is an advantage,,but a lot of magnificent and popular doctors here in davao took biology for pre med.or does it really matter what pre med course should you take to cope better with the lessons youll face when you proceed?

Hi there! I am a 22 year old graduate of BS Tourism in an Aeronautical school here in the Philippines, and I really want to be a doctor.
Why do schools have different requirements?
If you really want to get to med school next year, there are so many schools that dont even require prerequisites or NMAT cutoff. UERM has a cutoff of 55 but you can inquire with so many that does not have subject prerequisites. If FEU won't take you, DLSU, San Beda, Fatima, or even MCU will readily take you.Hi there! I am a 22 year old graduate of BS Tourism in an Aeronautical school here in the Philippines, and I really want to be a doctor. I went to different schools in Manila and one of my choice is UERM, as long as your a graduate of a BS or AB 4 year course it is okay with them. I know that I'll be struggling with med school since I don't have any pre-med. I'm planning to take some supplementary subjects to prepare me for my application next year 2010 although UERM doesn't require me to take it. Why do schools have different requirements? With FEU I will be taking a lot of science and math subjects. Gee... this will take me to finish it for 3 years... and I am planning to take the NMAT exam this December of 2009 and if I will get a low score I'll get one more in April next year.
This is so hard for me... But I really want it that is why I am doing this... I never give up easily...
