My question is pretty vague: How is life in Canada as a doctor?

All canadians are covered under the national health plan "MSP", does this make life easier for primary care doctors such as FPs since they don't have to go fishing trying to get their patients to pay?

I guess that part is simpler. There's a list of what the government will pay for-- if a patient needs it & you deliver it, then you get paid. Rates for specific services/procedures etc. are bargained for collectively.

Any doctor in Canada makes good money. However, GPs probably don't make enough considering what their education cost, what their practice costs, how much they work, how important they are to the overall system, etc. There are specialists in Canada who bill >$1 million/year-- which is not bad considering that's coming from single payer (the provincial government).

There are advantages to practicing in Canada-- however, there are disadvantages to working in what is a chronically cash-strapped and inherently, inescapably, political system.

Also-- I think you're far less likely to hear Canadian docs refer to their patients as 'clients.' ;)
