for partial tears at the musculotendinous units, there are some descriptions in the ortho literature for using these kevlar based fiberwire sutures.

Anyway, who are the big guns in ortho doing this?

One of the guys (I forgot his name) at stanford repairs pecs with fiberwire.
 
From my understanding Fiberwire is used in a number of procedures, especially arthrocopic procedures. We used it in a pec repair instead of your traditional ethibond. From my understanding it has the strength of #5, size of #2...Nothing really magical about this stuff though...if it's what you are talking about.
