I've been reviewing this passage and still have a hard time understanding what it's saying at all. Could anyone help break down the main idea? I have no idea what paragraph 3 is saying, and how they're doing the experiment. What is the meaning of "Tb and Ta were independent of Tf"? Where would Tf be? What is the "equilibrium point"? Hence I couldn't answer the particular question (posted below) either.
