Ok, so this question says that llamas live in areas of high altitude (low oxygen levels). Doesn't this mean that the affinity of Hemoglobin for O2 should DECREASE in order to facilitate unloading of oxygen to the body tissues? Shouldn't the curve shift right then?
Kaplan's explanation for their answer makes sense I guess, but really, I've heard it argued both ways, and since this is a pretty high-yield topic, I might as well get it down.
So... am I right in thinking: low atmospheric O2 levels = lower Hb affinity = right shift ?
