Hello everyone. Is transfer in fellowship an option either at the start or after starting fellowship (asking for Hem/Onc, Cardiology, PCCM) if we have to do it for a family reason? I know it's not desired, and we have an agreement with NRMP, but sometimes things don't work around the way we want them to work. If yes, does it have to be a swap only? Any experiences or thoughts in this regard are appreciated.

Yes you can transfer. No it's not easy. You will be subject to the terms of the Match agreement.

Also, if you're only applying to PCCM, why do you care if you can do this in cards or Hem/Onc?

Can you explain more please? How’s the process?

Transfer is simple. Tell your PD your plan and get their blessing. Find a program with an open spot. Contact them. Explain your situation. If they want you, talk to your PD and have them contact the other PD so they can finalize it. Alternatively, finish your first year contact and sign your second year with the other program, but i doubt anyone will take you without you having the blessing of your current program. Other than this, there is no transfer
