Other Is it possible to pre-match (Non-nrmp programs) with only step 1

Hi Non-Us Img here. Let's say you had a very good step 1, but couldn't get step 2ck before/or after the rank list deadline (late feb). You still plan to take it before starting residency (July). Could you still get an offer from a program that doesn't participate in NRMP?

Probably less likely since prematch is nearly a program giving 150% of its belief in you.. They wouldn't believe in you if you didn't have solid step 1 and step 2 scores ck. I assume you need a step 2 CK score, Unless there is are extraordinary circumstances like covid completing derailing any chances you had of taking step 2 CK.

That depends on the meaning of 'prematch'. There are programs that do not use NRMP to fill their positions. They often make offers before the Match, so you could call them prematches. Programs used to be able to fill some positions before the Match and the rest through the Match. This form of prematch is no longer permitted (and hasn't been for some time) by NRMP rules.
