Just in case anyone is still looking for an internship placement for the 2023 - 2024 year, there is a site at a major hospital in Baton Rouge, LA that not only pays a high stipend ($30,000!!), but it also provides housing for free in your own apartment. Unfortunately, the site is not APA accredited yet, but it looks like they are working on accreditation. Here is the info from the announcement posted below:
Dear Training Director:
We are writing to announce two vacancies for our psychology internship program at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital Regional Medical Center (OLOL) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We have open positions for two interns in the class of 2023 – 2024.
We are APPIC members and are working toward APA accreditation. We are also participating in the 2022 PMVS (#251011).
OLOL Psychology internship emphasizes the clinical practice of psychology in medical settings, both inpatient and outpatient and with adolescents and adults. Interns gain a wealth of experience in specialty medical and surgical clinics, as well as opportunities in Intensive Outpatient Programs, Emergency Mental Behavioral Health, Geriatric Behavioral Health, Psychiatric Consultation/Liaison for Hospital Medical/Surgical/ICU Services, and Palliative Care.
Thanks to an in-house grant, interns enjoy a generously competitive compensation and benefits package. Intern salary is above average at $30,000 per year and benefits include free housing, parking, gym membership, and weekday lunches. Also provided are health and malpractice insurance, 3 weeks vacation, and sick and educational leave allowance.
