I thought these IR articles would be of interest to all levels of medical students, from incoming MS-I’s to ready-to-apply MS-IV’s. Both of these article used surveys to assess students’ interest, knowledge, and exposure to IR. The first study had >700 med students from 21 different states respond. The second student asked similar types of questions but directly compared students’ experiences at two difference medical schools: one without a required radiology rotation (UNC) and the other with a required radiology rotation (Duke). This UNC/Duke study also asked how and if students would like to see IR integrated into their curriculum.

Interested in what they found? Check them out below:

1. Exposure to, Understanding of, and Interest in Interventional Radiology in American Medical Students

This study was mentioned in a previous SDN post as well: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/ir-and-medical-student-interest.1009586/
2. Assessing Medical Students’ Knowledge of IR at Two American Medical Schools

You’ll likely need institutional access for these articles.

Is there any IR exposure integrated in your medical school’s curriculum?
