If a school asks about an institutional action on secondaries, what is the general consensus on what to do? I see a few options
1) Keep it short state what happened, how I've grown, etc.
2) Copy and paste my essay from primary (probably dumb)
3) Pour my heart out and use all the space they offer

It depends on what you did, but unless you have a really good reason to do otherwise I always strongly advise option 1.

Option 1

the primary is not for explanations of misdeeds.
I think that the OP was referring to copy and pasting the essay explaining the institutional action (IA) which is a required "explanation of misdeeds" in the primary if one has an IA.
