Hello everybody.
I have been looking for the incidence rates of brain metastasis in stage I/II NSCLC following primary tumor resection +/- adjuvant chemotherapy.
What would interest me the most would be the rate of brain metastasis as the first recurrence of the tumor following curative treatment.
So far I have seen some papers describing brain metastasis rates in stage III patients (including the PCI papers) following multimodal treatment, but I was wondering what the rate would be for those earlier stages.
The one paper I found on stage I can be found here:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11888773
and describes a brain metastasis rate of about 12% in 436 patients with Stage I disease as first recurrence.
Does anybody know of any other publications?
The big trials on adjuvant chemotherapy in stage I/II disease only give numbers for "distant failures", but don't break those down to brain, liver, bone, adrenal, etc.
