Does anyone think that eventually IDET may become absolete with the new surgical technique of disc replacement? Or will it be a precursor to disc replacement, just like ESI before back surgery?

Minimally invasive procedures like IDET and its progeny for axial pain, or TF ESI for radicular pain, will likely precede destructive open or arthroscopic procedures in the back pain algorithm for the foreseeable future.

To nitpick about your verbiage, for an event to have a precursor, to me, implies that the subsequent event is inevitable. In this case, the raison d'etre of our interventions is to preclude the need for more destructive procedures in the first place.
