Quit internal medicine residency after 2 years. Decided to pursue my original interest while in medical school, orthopaedics. Interviewed last year but no success. Did a few months of research but it doesn't seem to have helped as I did not even receive one interview this year. Match process is almost over and I'm not sure what to do. Thought about going back to medicine and becoming a hospitalist but horrified of hating my job. My attitude and patient care were negatively affected by this disinterest. Not sure there is much hope in breaking into ortho, and not willing to pursue any other field yet. Anyone ever go thru this? Don't have any support on this issue and need to figure it out soon.

Think about PMR program with emphasis on sports med and musculoskeletal. You can practice orthopedic medicine. Just as effective or more so in most disorders as surgery.
