I am an old graduated of MD in forties. I applied 4 years and did not match. My USMLE was 220 but old. I had internal medicine residency in one foreign country with advanced healthcare system. I am not afraid to study PhD. During past time not spent in residency, I did researches and had 2 publications about heart disease and cancer. I had one patent in optometric refraction. Will getting PhD program now help my career path? I know PhD jobs could be 170K/ year but. My enthusiastic factor for physician is 10 and PhD job is 8. I understand by the time I finish PhD and afterwards residency if I can match it in the USA, I will be mid-fifties. Can someone please kindly help me by telling me more infos? Thank you
