I'm a decent med student (top 15%) from a decent med school (top 15%) that did well on my school's internal version of the Step 2 CS.

How much studying do I really need to do to pass?

For now, my plan was just to spend 5-6 hours with First Aid, about half of that being the night before... Am I headed for disaster?

First Aid covers the majority of the topics well, with some useful
non-technical tips as well (wash your hands, ask permission to beign the physical, always counsel re smoking/tobacco, offer assistance from social work, etc). You should go through the cases in FA (31 total) until you feel comfortable with them. It might take a bit more than 5-6 hours (maybe 10 H or so), but 5-6 H might be enough. Know what's in FA and you should do well!

LOL, I don't want to do well, I just want to pass!

Then speak english, wash your hands, drape the patient, tell them your ordering labs/x rays and bone up on either your typing speed or legible doctor scratch. You'll pass.
