8 in a good number. I heard of a story of a girl with stellar academic record (43-45 MCAT), went onto 10 interviews and got into none of them (I have talked about this case before a while ago)...her problem was her communication skills.

Actually, as a patient, I would rather have a introverted, genius nerd as opposed to a mediocre, arrogant gunner as a doctor. But that's just me

I'd rather be seen by a competent and compassionate person to whom I can relate. But that's just me.

Well, a mixture of skill and personality is ideal, and that is who everyone would pick. But if forced into a push comes to shove-style situation between intelligence and introvertedness, and lack of skill and extrovertedness, I would take the first doctor 100% of the time. That is all I am saying. I might not live long enough to be indignant at the doctor's personality if he were incompetent and an arse.
