I have accepted a position into an HCA residency for IM. I always wanted psychiatry. Anyone have experience with this? Would I be able to switch out for PGY2?

I have no experience in this. I just have to say meditech sucks really bad. Also, HCA is the largest American medical system.

My advice is if you want psych to apply every year but don’t stop working. Easier to do a second residency than to be out of a job and try again.

It's easier to do a prelim year and match into a psych PGY2 spot than it is to do an IM residency and transfer out. You can do it, it's very challenging and requires you to communicate with program directors on both ends to do it.
