The Jamaica Hospital Medical Center has a General Practice Residency Program, and is accepting applications for the 2017-2018 academic year.
The program provides excellent exposure to the full scope of Dentistry:
- General Dentistry: Removable and Fixed cases, Cosmetics- Veneer cases. Implant-supported restorations, Endodontic therapy
- Pediatric Dentistry: Behavior management/Local anesthesia/Nitrous Oxide and Comprehensive care in the Operating Room.
- Oral Surgery: Simple/Surgical Extractions, Pre-prosthetic surgery, Implant treatment planning/placement, oral pathology
- Management of Hospital Inpatients/Emergency Department: treatment of dental and dentoalveolar trauma, management of infections
There are many specialists on staff (Pediatric, Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery and many General Dentists) who cover the outpatient clinic daily.
Each resident has their own operatory. Residents will learn to manage time, and increase speed and efficiency with delivering dental treatment to patients by the end of the year.
Off Service Rotations
Family Medicine 2 weeks
Internal Medicine 2 weeks
Anesthesia 4 weeks
Vacation 4 weeks + federal holidays.
On-Call Responsibilities: In house call (during the months of July/August). Home-call remainder of the year. There is a resident on-call room in the hospital that is available all year for residents who live further than 20 minutes from the hospital.
Transportation/Parking: The hospital is located at the Jamaica-VanWyck stop on the E train. On site covered parking garage is also available.
