as some of you know, i am a categorical medicine resident contemplating a switch into anesthesiology. do you believe it is better to go through eras to apply for a first year anesthesiology spot or write letters and try to go outside the match. ie. on u. of chicago's website, they say that applications for ca-1 spots require an eras application. does anyone know if this is a hard and fast rule.
also, has anyone had advice on asking your previous writers of letters of rec to write another one for another specialty (anesthesiology) when these were the people who encouraged you to go into your original field (internal medicine)? last question may be confusing. let me know.
