I've heard it's pretty essential. Some programs it's the only chance you get to actually talk to residents.

i agree with above. i am planning to go to all of them.

It won't be the deal-breaker, especially if your app's strong. But if you like the program, you GOTTA go.

The dinners get tedious, though. Nobody's kidding anybody...it's an extended interview. It's like "optional" off-season workouts in the NFL. But, if it's a back-up program, don't break your neck to make it.
