Hi all,

I really like the procedures in GI and critical care as whole, but I am scared about the length of training and lifestyle in both of these fields. I'm apprehensive about spending 6 more years in training to get out and hate my lifestyle. Any thoughts on what it is really like once you get out and away from academic medicine?

Thanks for your input.

my father is critical care, he works in the cardio-thoracic unit of a major university hospital, its very academic. He works 3-4 days a week 12-14 hour shifts, however it is extreemly stressful
