Hello all... I was hoping to tap into the expertise of this forum.
My friend is a 29 yo man w/ no PMH, who has been suffering from GERD for the past 4 years (hoarseness, throat pain/burning esp upon awakening). His symptoms are not adequately controlled by his current meds of: Protonix 40mg PO tid, Zantac 300mg PO qhs, Claritan 5mg PO qhs, and Antacids PO qhs. Has been watching his diet, sleep hygiene and weight. SocHx neg x 3.
Any suggestions regarding what else he can try, short of surgery, would be greatly appreciated! Or, maybe a better question is what can be done for patients suffering from GERD who fail surgical correction?
