Just wondering, other than taking the USMLE and returning to the states....

What about going to the UK for residency? Is that a popular option? I would like to hear statistics, etc

I am a Malaysian accepted to RCSI

We have people coming to UK from Irish schools (I'll be working with a few next year during my housejobs). If you can get EU citizenship while you are at RCSI (?Irish) you'll have an even better shot. UK is a good bet for a bunch of reasons (great training, lifestyle etc) and expecially if you want to go into Primary Care (GPs get paid well here and have nice hours - ie: only do nights and weekends if they want to - and for very high locum rates!).

If you have huge silly loans to pay off though (>50K pounds) then you'll need to go to US and become a subspecialist though - you can't really service that kind of debt on a UK doctors salary unless you have a much lower standard of living than your peers.
