Hello 4th year medical student here about to start family medicine residency in July. I am currently in the army national guard.
I had a few questions about the flight surgeon course and I have looked at previous threads but they are all older and dont really answer my questions...
1) Where can I get information about all that is required to apply for the course and what dates it is being offered. (flight physical, paperwork, required documents, any prior courses or prerequisites)
2) How far in advanced should you schedule the course?
3) Is it always available or does there need to be a slot open at your unit to become a flight surgeon
4) Can it count as an elective during residency
5) Who at my unit should I speak to about signing up? Readiness NCO?

Thanks for taking the time to answer some of my questions!
