Hello there!

in our last Pharmaceutical Technology lab, we've prepared some capsules and our teacher told us that, obviously, only the capsule's body should be filled with the powder and not the cap. She said that this would produce a "space" and that space is necessary for the "swelling of the capsule"... what swelling is she talking about? I doubt her info is correct, could you guys please tell me why exactly we don't fill the cap as well?
-Thanks!

P.S.: sorry if this is not the right place to post this!

The filling capsule space is not just like what we think. Actually, the filling space is the body. And the cap only plays a role in sealing.

Maybe this video can help you to better understand.
