Family Medicine Board Review Program Summary

The Family Medicine: Clinical Update program is a comprehensive and intensive review designed for family physicians, nurses, and other primary care professionals. This activity focuses on the current issues in the practice of family medicine, with special attention to new contributions. Emphasis is on practical, clinically applicable diagnostic and management issues in primary care. The course faculty is drawn from multiple specialties, including Family Medicine.

Target Audience for Family Medicine Board Exam Preparation

The activity is intended for physicians to provide a comprehensive update on the newer developments in medicine for practicing physicians. The material may also be directly applicable and relevant to nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to: Describe current management of carotid artery disease, hematologic malignancies, thrombotic disorders, infectious diseases, vertigo, BPH, and other common outpatient topics; Review the work-up and management of common outpatient pediatric issues including developmental screening, common orthopedic issues, and respiratory emergencies; Review presentations that include radiology and EKG cases, orthopedic exams, new drugs, common eye problems, transgender health, and substance abuse treatment; Discuss the latest recommendations in managing and treating diabetes, PCOS, parathyroid disease, nephrolithiasis, depression, palliative care, and more, for the Family Medicine Board Exam.
