Hey all you dermatologists,
73-rosacea

I am aware that this is not an art history forum, and that discussion on sdn is usually very medically-grounded, but I was curious if anyone was aware of examples of cutaneous conditions and dermatoses in famous art work in the past. Since skin is our most apparent organ, it seems poised to show pathology more than say, the gastrointestinal tract, and therefore, be depicted in visual art. Think of Domenica Ghirlandaio's "An Old Man and his Grandson" showing rhinophyma.

I am looking to write a paper on examples of dermatoses in paintings, but am coming up short. I really don't think this is due to a dearth of material, but simply due to inadequate searching technique on my part. Does anyone have any good examples of derm pathology in paintings? Thanks so much!
