I just had my paper accepted in an Elsevier Group Journal around 9 days ago.
The paper has been assigned a DOI (but not citable yet) and is available via a link on science direct. However I havent been sent any pdf proofs..(the site where it's available mentions that the pdf proofs havent been sent and that the article may have type setting, formatting , etc edits )
What I wanna know is:
How long does it take for a paper at Elsevier to be available online ahead of print post- acceptance ?
I ask because I have another paper which is ready to be submitted and I want to cite this one in it. If it's gonna take too long I might let it go and might not cite it and may just go ahead with submitting the second paper.
On a side note, I had published with Springer before and I felt their online tracking system is way way better than Elsevier's.. It was fast, they were good at communication and I got regular updates from them unlike Elsevier.
