There is an interesting thread taking place in the anesthesia forum about the fact that Kerry has stated on his website that he will actively fight for CRNA's to be able to practice independently (dealing a nasty blow to the anesthesiologists' careers).

Since ophthalmology is fighting a similar battle, it begs the question: Will he take a similar stance in supporting optoms having full rights, surgical and otherwise? Given that the Democratic party often votes for lower physician reimbursements, and that John Edwards hasn't exactly proved himself a friend of physicians, it seems likely.

Any thoughts?

I dont think it will take a 'Kerry' to change the scope of OD's. I think its more complicated than that.

CRNAs are already practicing independently in certain states. You should post your concern also at the Anesth. Forum to get an idea on how this actually did impact the MDAs profession in order to get an idea on how it may effect other sub spec.
