I am currently a second year med student. Recently, I found out that didn't pass a course by a couple of points (75% to pass). I am very shocked and sad because I never would have imagined myself to be in this position. I have done relatively well in my other courses. I am heavily involved with ENT research and other extracurricular activities. For some reason, things didn't go well going into this exam and now I have to remediate. If I were to remediate successfully (hopefully), are my chances of pursuing a very competitive residency such as ENT as lost cause?
Program dependent. Someone from our class had to repeat all of first year and ended up in a great residency program (not
ENT).
