DMU vs Western

Hey guys,

I'm having a tough decision here as I am a SoCal resident and would potentially like to practice in California if possible. However, I liked the atmosphere at DMU a lot more.

DMU
Pros:

• Facilities: Cafeteria, Gym, Study Spaces
• People: Students were very friendly and relaxed, same with professors
• Relatively cheaper cost of living
• City is small, but it has a cool vibe
• Good national reputation
• Great OMM program

Cons:

• Not sure about quality of rotations/lottery system
• I like Des Moines, but unsure about spending 4 years in Iowa
• Winter

Western
Pros:

• Good Reputation in southern california
• Rotations in southern California
• Great OMM program
• I know doctors from Western who initially got me interested in DO
• 90 minute drive from home
  
• Weather

Cons:

• Felt like a commuter campus
• Students complained about unnecessary lecture hours
• Seemed like a disconnected student body
• Pomona is sketchy

Overall, I definitely had a better experience interviewing at DMU. I just wonder if I would be better served going to Western if I would like to practice in SoCal. Really appreciate any votes/comments, thanks guys!
