Dermatology Clinical Research Physician (2014-2015)

The Clinical Research Physician with Dr. M. Shane Chapman is a 1-year research position. This is a new position available to MD’s who are trying to match into dermatology, or who have already matched and have a year before the start of residency.

Dr. M. Shane Chapman has been the Section Chief of Dermatology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center since 2008. He has been actively involved in dermatology clinical trials for over 15 years. The Dermatology Clinical Research Physician will work directly under Dr. Chapman, but will also collaborate with other providers within the section.

The overall aim of the position is to educate a potential dermatologist in all aspects of clinical research from the inception of the study protocol to the publication of the results. The Dermatology Clinical Research Physician will also be responsible for managing and overseeing the various clinical trials within the section as a sub-investigator. The realm of dermatologic diseases studied at Dartmouth Hitchcock is constantly expanding, but generally includes trials studying psoriasis, acne, skin cancer, and other general dermatological diseases. The Dermatology Clinical Research Physician will be involved in all ongoing clinical trials, which will include about 3-5 per year (on average). He/she will also be responsible for working with staff physicians to grow their research practices and promoting the presence of research within the section. The Dermatology Clinical Research Physician will also have the opportunity to interact with the Residents and Staff at events, such as Grand Rounds, Journal Club, and other large educational meetings/conferences.

Applicants must be eligible for a NH license, which requires the completion of at least 2 years of post-medical school training. Pay and benefits are commensurate to a PGY-1 level.

Interested applicants should submit the following information: letter of interest, updated CV, and list of references. Please submit these materials to the section Practice Manager, Ashley Luurtsema, at [email protected].
