You do not need to apply to 42 schools with your MCAT of 517. I suggest these schools:
Your 3 NJ state public schools

Mount Sinai
Rochester
New York Medical College
Albany
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Dartmouth
Brown
Tufts

You don't need to apply to over 30 schools IMO. So that said, where have similar applicants from your school gone for medical school? Do you have access to a prehealth advisor who keeps this information?

Most of those schools are state public schools that admit few non residents with no connection to the state. Does your advisor really believe you will be accepted to Harvard or Stanford ?

Clarification: The schools that my advisor recommended are separate from this list. Which state public schools do you recommend removing, and which reaches do you recommend removing?

Thank you for everything you do to help. I truly appreciate your feedback.

From your list above you could add Pittsburgh, Colorado, Uniformed Services, TCU-UNT, Rush, Loma Linda (if you fit their mission), Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Rosalind Franklin.

Would University of Utah and SUNY Downstate also be realistic?

For SUNY Downstate, is my work in NYC enough to move the needle?

Is Emory a far reach @Faha?
