What are your connections to the states of Nebraska and Iowa ?

I don't have any specific connections to those states...I am just from the region and had previously been told to consider those schools by an advisor.

Nebraska admitted only 17 non residents last year and many of those would have been applicants who were former residents or attended undergraduate school in the state. Iowa is worth trying though with your stats (54 non residents admitted). You should apply to many more schools and I suggest adding these:
St. Louis
U Chicago
Northwestern
Western Michigan
U Michigan
Case Western
Cincinnati
Tulane
USF Morsani
Miami
Duke
Georgetown
Pittsburgh
Rochester
Hofstra
Einstein
Mount Sinai
