How many days do you get off for interviewing for jobs in your program?

At my program, you don't get any additional days off. However, each resident gets a total of 30 days of vacation/sick leave + 5 additional days for meetings. State/federal holidays are not included in this total. I believe this was plenty for interviews.

I interviewed quite broadly across the country and wound up using 17 days of vacation/sick leave.

Most RadOnc programs still allow unlimited interview days and don't charge them against the vacation time. At the 2010 program directors meeting, the decision was made not to introduce standard limits yet, despite reported abuses in some programs.

Hey Seeper,

Are there minutes or anything written available from that PD meeting you mentioned? Could be good leverage for those of us at programs with zero time off for interviews.

Thanks,
ND

Nope, that came up in a private conversation.
