I work at the three letter retail chain and I am having trouble with determining day supply for certain types of meds. What would be the day supply for nasal sprays, eye drops, ear drops, inhalers, creams, lotions, ointment?

There are times where the doctors don't write it and I'm not sure whether to put 7 days or 30 days.

Thanks in advance

Inhalers and nasal sprays have a labeled # of sprays. Just calculate based on the directions.

Drops have roughly 14-17 drops per mL. Calculate based on the directions.

Topicals are harder. I use a general rule of thumb of roughly 2g/day (i.e. 15g tube = 7 days, 30g = 15 etc.) unless I have reason to adjust it ( big area, use sparingly, grams specified in directions).

If they want readyfill on topicals, ask them how often. If they don't, put 20 days (doesn't qualify for readyfill then).
