A week ago i spoke with an advisor ( who didn't major in psychology) and showed him my "CV" so he can critique it.
Well, he looked at it, told me it was "Too wordy, too long" my cv is 2 pages long with a good two paragraphs for every job i've had.
I told him my reasons ( I'm looking for a job as a RA so I can get Research exp). I am not sure, but it seemed as though he didn't understand this. He said I have to write my cv as a resume instead.....
The only good feed back I felt he gave was to write my cv with bullet points and make it shorter so I can get people's attention.
I am having a hard time deciding what to put on my CV. I have:
RA exp as a volunteer and as a job
been to a couple of conferences to talk informally with professors
graduated with a BA psych.
leadership experience with a job
I am worried because most cv's I've seen have: awards, pubs, grants...etc..
Anyone has any ideas, examples, sites to check out for advise? what works/doesn't for a recent U grad like myself?
thanks..
