How is the malpractice insurance premium for ct. surgery?

CT surg is typically quoted as being up there with neurosurgery, OB/Gyn and ortho. Here in PA where malpractice premiums are causing a crisis, CT surgeons are part of the exodus of physicians from the state.

I wouldn't advise a medical student to avoid CT Surg, OB/Gyn, NeuroSurg, or any other "high risk" specialty just because of the current problems with malpractice insurance. The current situation cannot continue; some sort of resolution much be attained in order for high risk specialists, who are greatly needed, to remain in practice. By the time you finish med school and residency, the market will have corrected itself and some form of tort reform/insurance regulation will be in place to make practicing high-risk medicine a tenable financial decison.

And that is where the DO/JDs and MD/JDs come into play.

Worry not brethren we will get those who persecute you
