hi all,
Just looking for some pointers on contract negotiation. I’m starting to look for gastroenterology jobs and they all seem pretty stellar to me. I know you should negotiate always, but I don’t want to seem too greedy. What kinds of things have people negotiated with their contracts other than pay? and any pointers on how to approach. Thanks!

Just ask. Things other than base salary/guarantee are $/wRVU, signing/relo bonus, "quality measures", CME money.

The biggest thing you need to be aware of is the type of job you're looking at. Hospital employed (especially academic) won't have much wiggle room on most of the things like salary and productivity incentive, but might on some of the other stuff. For a true PP group, it's all up for grabs.

You won't get anything you don't ask for, and I guarantee that everyone else they're talking to is asking for stuff too.
