Hi SDN, I am almost 2 yrs out of dental school and considering doing a pros residency with the air force. I value anyones opion, pros/cons, recommendations on the matter.
Thanks
If you are wanting to be in the Air Force for a long period of time (pay back) do it. The residency will get you some bonus pay, but will allow you to do more in the Air Force and will help with promotions and open doors. After you leave the Air Force you will have alot of options open, like teaching, or group practices, or perhaps a pros practice in a really big town.
The AF Pros residency is one of the best around. You get great training, have excellent lab support, unlimited materials and time and get paid while you are doing it--as well as the bonuses mentioned above. Your pay in the AF will be much greater than in a civilian dental school so many of the guys opt to stay in. It's a good deal.
