Is anyone aware of upcoming legislation restricting anyone other than a chiropractor to performing a grade-V/thrust manipulation/adjustment in the state of Oregon in 2010? The hope is if this can be done in one state, this will set precedent in other states.

Apparently Oregon has been identified as a key state to pursuit this because voters are distracted by many other ballot issues.

Personal commentary: It’s really too bad more money and time isn’t spent providing better patient care, or improving access to properly trained healthcare providers. This is about restriction of trade, not patient safety. I just wish this process gets defeated before to much is invested in this battle. It’s ridiculous.

Probably not much, considering:

1. DO's have been around at least as long as chiropractors.
2. With so few DO's actually practicing OMM, I'm not sure they are a real threat to the chiropractic market share.
