Carbamazapine Elimination

If a patient taking carbamazepine stops taking the medication, what would be the expected level upon elimination of the drug? I know a guy that can't get his level below 2mcg/ml even after 2 weeks having come off the medication. His level was 2mcg/ml before stopping. What is happening here? Is this normal?
