Canadian gaining states residency

Hi i'm a Canadian wanting to apply to US schools. HOwever the tuition is just too expensive for me. I remember from this forum there were a few Canadian got residency in the states. Can you guys tell me how to do that??

i would like to know how as well... i've been working in the US as a Canadian for two years and i'm nowhere close to receiving a Green card.
