Can someone tell me about being a PA?

Hi! I am looking into the PA profession. How is it different from being a nurse practitioner? Did you have to choose between MD and PA? If so, why did you choose one over the other? Someone mentioned a better lifetyle being a pA over a MD. what does that mean? regular hours, no call, or what?
Anyuway, i can find the facts easy enough i just want to hear some anecdotal information on what it is like to be a PA.
