As a Canadian I am really interested in the field of Orthopedics, but the job market in Canada for Orthopods is freakishly savage.

I was wondering if I write the USMLEs and do residency in Canada but do a fellowship in the states, can I find work as an orthopod in the US?
I got into medicine for orthopedics and if I can't practice in this field, I should just quit now.

If you complete an orthopedic residency in Canada, you will likely be able to some sort of ortho fellowship in US (unlike getting into US ortho residency, its much easier to get into a US ortho fellowship. One of the fellows the year above me did Canadian residency) and can be eligible to sit for American board of ortho certification exams. So I think you could get a US job with a Canadian ortho residency and US ortho fellowship if you are able to be ABOS board eligible.

Here is a link to the ABOS certificatation requirements. Page 13 has a section on Canadian applicants.

Canadian schools and residencies are acceptable in the US. I'm not sure what the board eligibility is for ortho, but you can look into that if you wish.
