I have an opportunity to pick up a bunch of med school and USMLE Step I books at a great price from a 3rd year med student. It seems like BRS Pathology is highly recommended by many on this board. But what about BRS Physiology - the blue one by Costanza? Is this too much detail? Or will this book serve me well in first year classes or for the NBDE Part I boards?

Thanks. And any other med school/USMLE books that people recommend, please post. A lot of people have recommended First Aid for USMLE Step I and BRS Pathology.

I used BRS Phys to study for all of my first-year phys courses (we are systems based so we had extensive phys courses all year long).

It was wonderful and always covered the exact same material that was tested on.

I'd get it.

For the NBDE I, however, it is probably too in depth.

Also, the BRS Path that you mentioned is an excellent book as well. The BRS books I have are:

Cell Bio & Histology
Embryology
Gross Anatomy
Micro and Immuno
Neuroanatomy
Pathology
Pharmacology
Physiology

As you can see, I don't have anything against the BRS series at all :D

cannot say for sure about Physio for your regular classes....but for NDBE......use all this

1)Dental Decks....either the 2001/2004 ones.
2)Past papers.......

Gulp down both these....

Also get the HIgh Yield series for USMLE.....for all subs.....they are good.

wish u all the best!
