Swanson's seems to be most popular for FM study here, what is the advantage of Bratton's/Osler?

The electronic syllabus for the electronic syllabus for the Recertification Course would be helpful for preparing for the Recert Exam. However, we feel that it would more beneficial in conjunction with the MP3 formatted recordings that match the syllabus. This is because you can scroll through the notes as you listen to the actual lecture and pick up additional information explaining the notes. You can obtain a sample of the recordings on our web site. To find click on the General Surgery Course in the left column and scroll down the Recertification Course on MP3 CDs.

These materials do not have any oral scenarios. There is a book titled Tips for Taking the Oral Exam and self directed study materials for the oral exam have oral exam scenarios. Descriptions about these resources are also found on the web site in the same area.

The Osler Family Medicine review course is a six day didactic review covering the material that is on the Family Medicine Exam. The material is constantly updated in response to changes that are made to the exam. Swanson's and Bratton's are basically practice test questions/exams. Therefore, there is no interaction with faculty or other participants. The other advantage to going to a live review course is that you are forced to set aside a large chunk of time to concentrate on preparing for your exam. Participants attending the Osler Family Medicine review course are eligible to receive up to 60 Category 1 CME Credits plus the paper work to qualify for AAFP Prescribed Credit for each course. The individual needs to decide how best to prepare for their exam.
